SMAM 2026-27: Up to 80% Government Subsidy on Farm Machinery

What is SMAM?
SMAM (Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization) is a scheme run jointly by the central and state governments. It helps farmers own farm machinery at a lower cost. The subsidy is paid directly into the farmer’s bank account.

How much subsidy can you get?
- Individuals: up to 50%
- Groups: up to 80%
Documents required
To apply as an individual, you only need these four documents:
- Land tax receipt (even one cent of land is enough)
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook
- Photo
From application to subsidy
- Apply online: the first step is an online application. We do this for you, free of charge.
- Application approved: you usually hear that your application is approved within one month.
- Buy the machine: once notified, pay the full amount and buy the machine.
- Government inspection: officials from the Agricultural Engineering department visit to inspect and approve the machine.
- Subsidy credited: the subsidy amount is credited from the government treasury to your bank account.
How long does the subsidy take?
How long the subsidy takes to arrive depends on the availability of government funds.
Selection by lottery
Each month, the government selects beneficiaries from that month’s applicants through a lottery. If you are not selected in a given month, don’t worry: we will re-register you for the next month ourselves.
